After the bombing of the Pan American Flight #103 on December 21,1988, by Islamic Terrorists, over Lockerbie Scotland, Kelsey created a little bronze angel for Lockerbie's Memorial Garden: a simple gift to let the people of Lockerbie know, that we cared for their losses, as much as we did for our own. Two hundred fifty nine persons were killed onboard with eleven more victims on the ground. There was no fan fare...just a quiet memorial gift from our country to their country. Kelsey named this little angel "JOY" because she celebrates Life, Love, Hope, Joy, Peace and Freedom! After the attacks against the United States In New York City on September 11, 2001, it was time for the little Angel to go to work again and a copy was sent to London, England. Joy's next mission happened on August 9, 2008 when she was commissioned by Sterett Association and The Navy League of The United States for our newest, 1.3 billion dollar, DDG 104 Destroyer Battleship in Baltimore Maryland. Kelsey also wrote a poem: "Love Letter from Home" to accompany their Guardian Angel sculpture, and both are now permanently installed onboard the U.S.S. Sterett. Bob Dole announces that our Veterans are being short changed. At this point, Kelsey realized that Joy had more work to do and The Freedom Angel Foundation is formed.. July 2010 The foundation receives its 501(C) (3) status as a non-profit corporation. Now, Joy is growing up to become the Freedom Angel which celebrates America and the Men and Women who protect her. It is the image of the Freedom Angel which will help to raise the dollars needed to insure the best medical care for our returning Veterans. as she becomes a permanent source of income for America's Heroes. Once placed, we anticipate that The FreedomAngel will become a destination which every American will want to visit at least once in their lifetime... May 7,2011. We are almost ready to roll now. Invitations have been sent, and the Public Relations effort has begun,Contracts are signed, and the Danbury Fair prepares a place in Center Court for her unveiling. Mariano Brothers is ready to move The Freedom Angel from the Polich Tallix Foundry in New burgh New York to Danbury on May 26th! October 2011 The Freedom Angel debuted successfully, Kelsey detailed and finished the seven foot clay figure before an enthusiastic public. The Angel was returned to the Polich Tallix Foundry where the molding process was completed. Next, the Freedom Angel will be cast into a magnificent bronze sculpture. Plans for her multi-city tour to introduce The Freedom Angel and her mission to the nation are now in the works..
