"AN ANGEL FOR OUR SOLDIERS" Mission Statement:The members of Freedom Angel Foundation, Inc. have joined together to honor the men and women of the armed forces of the United States. Our mission is to raise public awareness of the special medical and social needs of these men and women when they return to civilian life and to raise funds to help meet those needs. By creating a new national monument to celebrate America and the men and women who protect her, we will have deliberately created a highly marketable insignia which can can be placed on many products, bearing the Angel's image. Coupled with corporate sponsorships, we hope to greatly increase the national level of donations across the country and, at the same time, give to our country a permanent, multi-generational source of income which is dedicated to our mission. FOUNDER/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: Sterett-Gittings  Kelsey Roxbury, CT. Sterett is the guiding light of the Foundation, which she founded in January 2010 out of a deep sense of gratitude for the men and women of our armed forces and a desire to celebrate and thank them for the sacrifices made in defense of our freedom. Sterett has been called "The New Master of Movement" and is acknowledged as the leading sculptor of dance in the world today. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, Sterett has worked continuously for more than 40 years, producing many masterworks in bronze, which can be found in more than 300 public and private collections all over the world.    

 

MANAGEMENT

TREASURER/CFO: McKay Duncan  Brooklyn, N.Y.    McKay joined the foundation at its inception in January 2010, and was recently appointed   its treasurer and chief financial officer. He brings to our Foundation, a uniquely valuable combination of financial experience, design, engineering, and artistic training. He graduated from The Leonard M. Stern School of Business, (M.B.A.) with a concentration in finance; from Pratt Institute,   (MFA) in Industrial Design, with thesis on design of human powered vehicles and from The Rhode Island School of Design, (BFA) with a major in glass. McKay has 20 years of product development consulting for consumer goods concerns, designing and developing more than 400 products. He is a Co-founder of " Make Product Development Inc "   and a member of a startup venture team for " Cake Decor Ceramic Housewares." 

SECRETARY: Dr. David Lincicome  Roxbury, CT.  Dr. Lincicome joined the Foundation at its inception in January 2010 and brings broad training and experience in law, business development, and non-profit management to the Foundation.  Highlights of his education and experience include: Washington University Ph.D. in philosophy; University of Akron School of Law Juris Doctor; licensed as an attorney (for 24 years) with a private practice conducted primarily pro bono publico. University of Missouri, Ohio University, Antioch College, and Northern Illinois University lecturer and professor of philosophy (for 10 years.) Roadway Express, Inc. and Caliber System, Inc. operations supervisor, planning analyst, and corporate planning specialists (for 20 years,) helping execute more than $3 billion in merger, acquisition, and startup transactions. David was a business valuation consultant, performing more than 300 appraisal assignments for litigation and acquisitions over the past 24 years. He is the Town of Roxbury's municipal agent for the elderly ( for 7 years) and Litchfield Hills Housing Ministry, Inc. (president for 10 years) and served as Department Secretary for the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department (for 8 years.)

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

CHAIRMAN: Christopher Dannen  Roxbury, CT. Chris is a banking professional with 30 years of experience, concentrating in mortgage banking. Currently VP-Residential Sales Manager with People's United Bank, a 20 billion dollar federal bank operating throughout the Northeast and headquartered in Bridgeport, CT., he is the Acting President of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association, a non-profit trade organization that services its mortgage banking membership through out Connecticut and neighboring states.

DIRECTOR: John Milnes Baker  South Kent, CT. John is an award-winning architect, author and architectural historian who specializes in residential design. He has a Masters in Architecture from Columbia University and has  authored two major books: "How to build a House with an Architect": and "American House Styles, a Concise Guide": plus numerous articles in professional journals.  He has served for more than 20 years as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.

 DIRECTOR: Barbara Henry Roxbury, CT. Barbara has been first selectman of the town of Roxbury since 1997, and has the distinction of being so widely respected as a leader that she is on both the Republican and Democratic tickets on election day. 

DIRECTOR: Kent Sterett  Littleton, CO.  Kent is President and Managing Partner of Clear Creek Power Co. and was formerly president of Premier Performance Network, Vice President of York International Corporation, and a Senior vice President at Fidelity Investments.

DIRECTOR: Sam Haigh  Stamford, CT.   Sam has 24 years of experience  as an executive in the hotel industry. He is currently President of Trybin Hospitality.  He was formerly President and CEO of Benchmark Hospitality, President of Doral Hotels and Resorts, and an executive with Marriott Hotels and Resorts and Stouffer Hotels and Resorts.

 

BOARD OF ADVISORS:  

MILITARY ADVISOR: Rear Admiral Robert D. Reilly Jr.,U.S.Navy (Retired) La Plata, Maryland.  Rob Reilly recently completed 34 years of active duty as a career naval officer and hails from an American Family whose members have served in the Armed forces of the United States since the Civil War. Rob's extensive navy background includes four command tours:  Commanding Officer of a Navy Guided Missile Frigate, Commander of the U.S. Navy's Arabian Gulf Destroyer Squadron, Flag Officer in command of the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman Aircraft Carrier Strike Group, and most recently, Commander of the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, where he was responsible for the Navy's 130 ship fleet of logistics, special mission, and strategic sealift ships.  Rob's duties ashore include senior officer tours in Washington, D.C. where he has served on the Joint Staff and as the Navy's Deputy Chief Information Officer on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations.  He is also a graduate of the National Defense University's Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration ( with emphasis on National resources)  from the George Washington University.

ADVISOR: Peter Filous  Roxbury, CT.   Peter is currently President of Diversified Financial Consultants in Roxbury, CT. and a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and Disabled American Veterans. His infantry unit was the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation. Peter  serves as Treasurer of Alpha Association, a unit of Viet Nam Veterans, which provides fellowship and assistance, with military service related, disability benefits. His career includes forty years experience in real estate, finance, construction, development, investment consulting and appraisal. He is the former President and CEO of a regional bank and its subsidiary, Real Estate Investment Development and Construction.            

ADVISOR: Reverend David Peters  Roxbury, CT.   Reverend Peters has been the pastor of the Roxbury Congregational Church for 24 years. He has a B.S. in Industrial Technology and Graphic Arts from Central State University and a Masters of Divinity in Parish Life from Andover Newton Theological School.  Before coming to Roxbury Church, he served as Minister of Christian Education at the First Congregational Church in Waltham, Massachusetts and as Associate Minister of the First Congregational Church of Danbury, Connecticut. He has served the community for many years on numerous boards and committees, and as a volunteer EMT and officer in the Roxbury Ambulance Association.                               

ADVISOR: Thomas Rockwell Shepard, Sarasota, Florida.  Commander U.S. Navy: Tom was the Publisher of Look Magazine 1945-1971  and Chairman of United Way in Greenwich, Connecticut. 

 

 ADVISOR: James R. La Groan, C.P.A.  Rockville, MD.   Jim is a principal of Santos Postal & Company, a full-service regional accounting firm based in Rockville, Maryland  He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and has practiced accounting for 38 years, specializing in investment planning, asset management, and retirement planning for high net worth clients.  He is a Registered Investment Advisor and has been active in a number of professional and civic organizations over the years, as well as several professional associations. 

 ADVISOR: Lloyd Bankson Riverside, CT.  Graduated Princeton University 1964: Citicorp 1965-1987 New York, London, Hong Kong Corporate Finance, Goldman Sachs 1987-1995 London/New York Financial Institutions,          JP Morgan 1995-2002  New York Financial Institutions, IQ Venture Partners 2002-present in Venture Capital.

 ADVISOR: Peter A. Gadiel  Kent, CT.  Peter has a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve Law School and engaged in Real estate investing for more than 20 years.  He currently works with families of 9/11 victims and with Secure America, a consortium of researchers and experts on foreign policy, working on issues of international security and U.S. Policy

ADVISOR: Jay Kuenzle Roxbury, CT:   USMCR  (retired) Jay is a retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel and a 21-year employee of Delta Airlines. Currently serving as Captain of Boeing 777 aircraft, he also serves as a media spokesman for the Airline Pilots Association.                         

ADVISOR: Francis Hodges  Roxbury, CT: has owned and managed a local diversified home and business services firm, RRR & Maintenance, Inc.in Roxbury, Connecticut, for the last 50 years. He served in the U.S.Army in the late 1960's in supply at Fort Bragg and in a small MASH unit in Vietnam.

ADVISOR: David Bennett  Bridgewater, CT. U.S. Navy (Ret)

Advisor: Lucille Filous  Roxbury, CT.  Lucille, is currently, Luxury Homes Manager for Coldwell Banker in NY and CT.  Formerly president of Real Estate Marketing Services Inc., providing consulting services to real estate developers, investors and banking institutions, Lucille brings thirty years experience in sales, marketing, branch and regional operations.  As lead trainer and program developer, she created and delivered sales training and motivational modules, focused on identifying consumer needs, client services and branding.
